2012 Raptor with Serious Rust… Worth Fixing?

Found a 2012 Raptor, but it’s got some serious rust going on.

Do you guys think it’s worth saving or just too far gone?

Speaking from experience, I spent $5,000 on a rusty Silverado that was worth $10k, and it was a nightmare. Every repair is a headache because everything’s seized up or falling apart.

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. If it wasn’t for the rust, I’d be all over it.

@Ollie
Why not buy it and swap the parts into a rust-free body? You could find an F-150 with a blown engine and just swap everything over.

After talking to the owner, it sounds like he didn’t keep up with the maintenance and mostly used it as a work truck. It’s probably a lost cause.

Haha, classic. Reminds me of all those rust bucket ‘classics’ in the neighborhood.

Yeah, nothing like a bonfire, a few friends, and the sound of rust flakes hitting the ground. Best times of your life when you’re young!

@Van
Man, I miss those days out in the desert, just us, a campfire, and a beat-up truck.

Did they wash it with saltwater or what?

:joy: Seriously, it looks awful!

They probably lived up north with all the snow and ice. I’m from NW Montana, and they put salt all over the roads.

Time to put it out of its misery.

Nope, it’s a never-ending battle.

It’ll be a money pit. That truck’s seen better days.

Don’t do it. Learned the hard way with a rusty project once. If you’re looking at a truck and see vice grips holding it together, just walk away.

If you’re not going to grab it, what’s the asking price? If it runs and drives, it could be a good donor for a project truck or even a swap into something fun.

Been wanting to do an LS swap in something like that. Could also try the 2.3 turbo out of an RS. Lots of possibilities!

That thing’s rusted beyond saving. RIP.

No way.
