I’m in the market for a truck and can’t stop looking at the Raptor R and TRX. They’re amazing trucks, but what’s the point if you’re not going off-roading? Wouldn’t it just be overkill for regular use like commuting to work?
Also, what would you recommend for a truck that has similar style and power but is more practical for everyday driving?
Because you like it and think it’s cool. For daily driving, you might be happier with a Limited F-150 or a Ram with air suspension—they’re much more comfortable.

I’ve always wanted a Raptor since I was a kid. A coworker has an F-150 Lariat Sport that I love, but I’m also really liking how the Rams look. I need to test drive a few trucks to see what fits best.
@Wilkie
If you’ve wanted it since you were a kid and can afford it, go for it! Life’s too short. Plus, these trucks hold their value well, so you could always resell it in a year or two if it’s not the right fit.
@Jordan
That’s good to know! I’m still debating between the Raptor R and the regular Raptor. Spending over $100k just to use it for commuting doesn’t make much sense to me.

You should sit in both a regular Raptor and a Limited F-150. That might help you decide.

These trims retain their value, but they’re also huge targets for thieves. A buddy’s TRX got stolen twice and recovered. He had a Grand Cherokee before that, which was also stolen. It’s wild how these trucks get shipped overseas so quickly.

Wow, I’d be so pissed if mine got stolen. That’s definitely something to keep in mind.
Yeah, it’s frustrating, but he’s come to love his TRX despite the thefts. It’s just something to consider when buying one of these high-demand vehicles.

I have no use for a Raptor or TRX, but I still want one because they’re cool. It’s like buying a $6,000 purse when a $200 one works just fine.

It’s the same reason people buy $50-60k Jeep Rubicons and never go off-roading.
I don’t get those people. For that price, you could get something cool, but they pick the loudest, roughest ride with terrible gas mileage and dump another $20k in aftermarket parts for looks.
