Why are Raptors so expensive now?

I was looking through old photos and found a 2017 Raptor window sticker. The MSRP was $53,000 back then. What happened? Cars have gotten more expensive, sure, but $30k more in just 7 years? You can’t even get a used Raptor for that price anymore.

Back in 2017, you could buy a basic Raptor, almost like an XLT. Now they all start at Lariat-level trim with a lot of extra features.

Yeah, in 2017 you could get cloth seats and a basic sync screen. If you added everything, it could go up to $70k, but you had the option to keep it simple.

@Jace
My sister bought a stripped-down Raptor back in 2013 for $42k.

Exactly. These days, even the base Raptor is loaded with features like a high-end Lariat or Platinum trim.

@Bay
I traded my Raptor for a Lariat and saved over $400 a month. I didn’t do off-road stuff, so it made more sense to save the money.

Just owning a Raptor is worth $400 a month, even if you don’t drive it off-road!

@Bay
Unless it’s the R, it’s really not worth it. After owning two Raptors, the excitement wears off. I get why someone who’s never owned one would think otherwise.

People taking out huge loans and wanting luxury in a desert truck drove the price way up.

Or they’re living at home with their parents, and the Raptor loan is their only expense.

@Ozzie
True. My wife wanted a pool, I wanted a Raptor. We ended up with a pool, and I’m driving a jellybean.

A pool or a Raptor… that’s a tough choice!

Now you’ve got a jellybean and high water bills. I had a Raptor for a few years before work and retirement took it away. I miss those days!

Yeah, Ford isn’t losing money on these trucks. Costs didn’t go up this much.

We all keep buying stuff at crazy prices… cars, food, concerts, everything.

Exactly. Companies charge what people will pay. If everyone stopped paying these prices, things would change, but too many people keep buying.

This is it. People keep buying, so why would prices drop?

Prices are up because of inflation, higher wages, and other economic issues.

That’s just corporate propaganda to shift the blame.

@Zane
It’s the truth. Look at the data.
