What’s the lowest year and highest mileage you’d go for in a used Raptor?

Thinking about getting a used Raptor if I can find a good deal. I’ve been looking at models from 2020 to 2023. The highest mileage I’d consider is around 30k, maybe even 50k if the deal is really good. What do you all think?

The jump from a 2020 to a 2021 is big. Gen 2 covers 2017-2020, and Gen 3 starts in 2021. Lots of changes between them, so it depends on your budget and what you want out of the truck.

Keep in mind, mileage doesn’t always tell the full story. Some of these trucks are ‘garage queens’ owned by older folks who only drive them on highways. Sometimes higher mileage isn’t a bad thing.

@Noor
I didn’t realize there was such a difference. I like the look and features of the Gen 3 models, so that’s what I’d go for. I’d love to buy new, but my budget can’t handle it right now. I’m hoping to find a 2023 that’s slightly used, maybe even a rental return.

@Rain
What about waiting until you can afford it outright? Financing at today’s interest rates might not be worth it, and waiting a year or two could save you money in the long run.

Rates are rough right now. I bought a 2023 recently with a 760 credit score, and Ford wouldn’t go below 9%. I ended up with 7% through a credit union, but I’m planning to refinance later this year.

@Scout
Wow! I bought my 2023 a few weeks ago and got 5% through NFCU. The dealer was quoting over 7%. I’m in NC, so maybe location makes a difference.

@Ty
No issues so far. I wish I got the 37s, though. They’re hard to find and sell quickly. My 2020 Raptor had 35s, so it wasn’t a big adjustment.

Bought mine in Texas earlier this year. Rates might’ve dropped a little since then, but that’s just my luck!

@Scout
Yep, there’s always a better deal after you buy!

I’m hoping to refinance into a better rate later this year. The current payment isn’t unbearable, but it’s not exactly fun either.

@Scout
Same here. My 2020 had a great rate, but the upgrades in the 2023 made the switch worth it. Except for losing the Torsen diff. Not thrilled about that.

@Scout
Yeah, I’m planning to refinance when I finally get one too!

I can afford one, just not one over 80k. And it’s hard to find new ones below that price.

@Noor
You really like that ‘old fart’ theory, huh?

If you can swing it, go new. Raptors hold their value so well, and you can’t always tell how a used one’s been treated. I saw a base 2021 with 20k miles for $67k that sat on the lot for months before selling.

@Cade
That’s not bad at all! I’d love to find something like that. I’m trying to stick to the low 70k range or less if possible.

Go for a 2021. The suspension and interior updates are worth it.

What about the blue interior? Does it really make a difference?

I’ve had both, and I like the blue with the Recaro seats. It looks better in person than in photos. It’s really up to your personal taste, though. If you’re a bigger person, the Recaros might not be as comfortable.

@Shane
I’m 6 feet tall. I was thinking of adding seat covers, so I’m not sure if it’s worth paying extra for the seats.
