Should I exchange my Ford F150 2009 and 4K cash for a 2010 Raptor? The only problem is the raptor has rust
I would never trade a dependable truck (assuming it is) for another one of the same age that’s in worse condition. And especially not for a Raptor that’s likely been heavily used. Absolutely not.
Especially not with an extra $4,000 on top. That money could be better spent upgrading the off-road performance of your truck or buying Raptor-style quarter panels and a grille if appearance is your main concern. Your F-150 also offers a bigger cabin and a wide range of affordable parts. First-gen Raptors are rarely seen on the road, let alone in scrapyards, so good luck finding inexpensive replacement parts.
What does the Raptor offer that your current truck doesn’t? It seems like a step down in terms of cabin space—no rear doors. While some may prefer the sportier look of a two-door, for me, losing the back doors and extra room would be a downgrade. Is your current truck a 4x4? If not, that could be a good reason to switch, but again, it depends on what matters most to you.
From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I think the red truck looks better, but that’s just my opinion.
Personally, I think your current truck looks better than the Raptor. After having a SuperCrew (SCrew) cab, I could never go back to a smaller cab like that.
Is your current truck reliable? If it is, I’d stick with it. You’re putting money and a dependable vehicle into something you know little about, which could turn into a money pit, especially with the rust issues.
How many miles are on both trucks? Do you take good care of your current one? How has the Raptor been maintained? I’d hate to trade a reliable truck for one that ends up being a headache with unresolved issues and neglected maintenance. Since both are older trucks, maintenance is definitely something to consider carefully.
