I’m in the market for my first truck. I’ve been driving a Lexus RX for the last 15 years.
Am I crazy purchasing the Raptor for an everyday truck on Long a island? I test drove it. It was amazing, I loved everything about it. However, it’s … big.
Is there anyone here that drives one everyday? Likes, dislikes, issues?
In my opinion, if you’re not racing in the desert every weekend, it’s a waste of money. Personally, I’d prefer a Lariat, King Ranch, or Platinum for the price. But that’s just my take. Have you driven any other trucks? I think the '19-'20 Platinums and Limiteds have the same high-output motor, but honestly, the regular 3.5 Ecoboost is really fast. You can add a lift and tires to any truck!
The only size difference I notice between the Raptor and the other F-150s is the 6-inch width. Is that really a significant issue in an urban environment?
Would the parking challenges in Brooklyn and Queens be enough of a reason to avoid it?
I’m just trying to figure this out through discussion. I enjoyed driving it and am really leaning toward a full-size truck regardless. Is that extra 6 inches a deal breaker?
Definitely go for the Raptor! I daily drive mine and work in the city. It’s really ten times the truck compared to a Platinum, and you’ll adjust to the size quickly.
Driving a Raptor from parking lot to parking lot in the concrete suburban sprawl of Long Island feels like a waste of resources. But hey, it’s your money—spend it how you like!
