Need Advice on Ford Raptor

Hey guys I need a little advice about what to do with my truck. I have a gen 3 that got hit in a parking lot and I need a new Rack & Pinion. My truck has been at a ford dealership since LABOR DAY and Ford still has the part on back order with no ETA. I’ve looked for parts but I don’t wanna put a POS replacement part in. My question is, does anybody know of any reputable companies that make a replacement. Anything helps and thank you!

Thanks, man, I really appreciate the advice! And yeah, I’ve been pretty diligent about checking for updates, haha!

Man, that’s crazy. They can’t get a steering rack? Is that all they actually need, or do they need the whole front end? I just ordered a CV and driveshaft for a '23 Gen3, and it only took two days to arrive.

If that’s really the situation, I’d be raising hell. Have you tried reaching out to another dealer? Here’s an idea: call a different dealer, ask to speak with the parts department, have your VIN ready, and ask them to look up the part. This way, you can see if it’s truly on backorder or if your dealer is just dealing with manpower issues.

Yea man I’ve called around a bit and it seems to be an issue on Ford and not the dealership, originally they said I’d only need the rack but they called me back and said they’d need the whole thing idk why, I guess I’m just lucky like that. At this point I’m willing to start looking into aftermarket but id also like to avoid putting bad parts on the truck especially bc this isn’t a part people commonly upgrade so there doesn’t seem to be many options.

That’s rough, man. Supply chain issues are definitely still a thing.

I’m not sure there’s an alternative for a Gen3 yet, so you might just be stuck waiting. But there’s truth in the saying “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”—I’d be calling Ford every day to push for that part.
