Hey, new to this forum.
I’m looking at getting a Ford Raptor and wanted to hear from anyone who owns one. Toyota’s just not doing it for me anymore.
I’ve seen quite a few Raptors from 2018 to 2020 with mileage between 40k and 66k.
Prices are ranging from $45k to $66k.
Would this be a smart buy?
One I found is a 2019 with 66,000 miles listed for $46k.
Is that too high, or is it reasonable? I’ve heard about some cam phaser issues and other stuff.

Honest opinion? Just go for it! And make sure to post some photos when you get it!

I picked up a 2020 with the 802a package, only 30k miles, extended warranty, and more for $52k out the door. No regrets at all! Definitely check things like shocks and cam phasers, but it’s an amazing truck.

The price looks about right, but it really depends on any extra upgrades.
If you’re financing, your rate on $46k might be close to 8%, which is around $1k a month.
If you’re eyeing a $66k model, maybe think about a new one. For cash buyers, I’d lean towards a new one too.

Looks like a good deal. I’m checking out a 2019 with the 802a package too, but it has 104k miles for $41k.

104k miles? That’s a lot for a 2019!

Yeah, but it’s had the cam phasers replaced, plus it’s leveled with a Cobb intake, intercooler, and new wheels. It drives great.

Honestly, if you want a Raptor and can find a decent Gen 2 with good service history, you’re probably getting a good truck for your money.

Personally, I’d go for a Gen 3, but as long as the miles aren’t crazy and maintenance is up to date, any Raptor is solid.

If you’re considering $45k, why not go for a Gen 3 from 2021 or newer?
The interior’s a step up, the ride’s smoother, and you’ll dodge a lot of Gen 2 problems.
I had a Gen 2 and had to do cam phasers, transmission work, and shock rebuilds all within a year. They’re fantastic trucks, but if you want less maintenance, Gen 3 might be a better bet.

Thanks for all the advice!
I’m leaning towards a Gen 3 now… I’d rather avoid dropping a bunch on repairs.
Guess I’ll keep looking and see if I can get a decent deal here. The truck prices are crazy where I live.
