King Ranch or Raptor… which one is better?

I’ve got a 2017 King Ranch and absolutely love it. It pulls my 3000 lb dump trailer with ease, even when loaded heavier, and the backseat is perfect for grown adults. It’s been everything I wanted in a truck.

That said, I’m thinking about upgrading while it still holds good resale value at 75K miles. I’m eyeing the 2023 King Ranch and the Raptor. The Raptor seems fun and cool, but the trim doesn’t seem as luxurious as the King Ranch. Less leather too. Plus, I’m not sure how practical it would be for towing. Right now, I’m leaning heavily toward the King Ranch.

Someone smarter than me, convince me to consider the Raptor—or confirm I’m making the right call!

I’ve got a King Ranch and love it. Honestly, I don’t see the point of a Raptor unless you’re doing serious off-roading.

I don’t and probably won’t. King Ranch it is.

Glad I could help you make such a small decision so quickly!

@Jordan
I was already 99% on the King Ranch. Just curious about why people like Raptors.

If you’re not off-roading and want luxury, the King Ranch is clearly the better choice. The Raptor is cool, but why bother if it’s just going to be a pavement queen?

Or mall parking lot adventures.

Raptors have a lower towing capacity than standard F-150s. I’d stick with the King Ranch.

Good to know—thanks for the input.

The big selling point of the Raptor is its suspension. If you’re not taking advantage of that, then the King Ranch is the better choice.

I tow a lot but don’t do much terrain driving. Looks like I’ll leave the Raptors for those who need them.

@Kai
You could always upgrade the suspension on your King Ranch if you feel like it.

I’ve already got a spacer lift and leveling kit for bigger tires, but a real suspension upgrade might be a fun project.

I just upgraded from a 2012 King Ranch to a 2023 model. I’ll never understand why Ford doesn’t consider the King Ranch the top trim.

Agreed. It feels like it should be the top trim. The Platinum and other trims don’t seem as high-end to me. Maybe those are for city folks?

It used to be the top trim, but now it’s tied with the Platinum, behind the Limited.

King Ranch, no contest. I’ve got a 2018 model and have towed over 10,000 pounds with it. It’s perfect for my small farm—hay, animals, tractors, you name it. Plus, the leather and cabin space are top-notch. Can’t wait to upgrade to a new one.

@Marlowe
Same here!

Have you considered an F-250 Tremor?

King Ranch all the way, but be aware the new trucks are known for electrical issues.
