Hey! I am in the market for a pre owned Gen 3 raptor with low miles. I like to own my vehicles for 6-8 years. I am sure most gen 3 owners haven’t put high miles on their raptors yet but wanted to see if there have been any major repairs or maintenance issues not covered by manufacturer warranty. Cross shopping raptor with tundra TRD pro. I know fun factor is no where close to raptor but reliability is huge factor. Thanks for your help in advance !!!
Go for it, man! Don’t hold back. Raptor owners fear nothing.
The engines are solid. The transmission had some issues, but I believe those were resolved by the end of August 2022 production.
Get the extended warranty for peace of mind. It’ll cover the transmission when the CDF drum seal eventually gives out.
Overall, they seem dependable. It’s an F-150, after all—they rarely have major issues, and the problems you hear about are usually isolated cases.
I’ve owned both a ’17 Gen2 and a ’24 Gen3—go for it. It’s hands down the best road trip vehicle you’ll ever drive and an absolute blast if you ever want to “just send it” on a weekend.
Take your time and keep looking. I just came across a 7-month-old Gen3 with only 4,000 miles on it.
Congratulations. How much did you pay for it? Where are you located?
Additionally, the newer Tundras are experiencing reliability problems and aren’t as dependable as the older 5.7 models.
