Throwaway account because this post is going to be pretty douchey and on my normal account, you could easily find out who I am.
I recently accepted a management position with a company owned by a man who also owns a couple other businesses. All his top managers at these three companies have company owned F250 Lariats (and a few higher trims). The company I’m at is an outdoors company, whereas the other two are construction. He’s offered to get me into a brand new F250 Lariat that’s fully loaded. He would have it fitted like all the others, with company branding, a leveling kit, and BFG K02s.
The other day, I jokingly mentioned that he could just get me a Raptor since we’re an outdoor store and it would be way cheaper. By the time the F250 is built out, it’s $100k. I saw his thinking face come on and he just smiled, and walked away. Today I got the following email:
“Thought about your suggestion for the raptor and I like it! I would still want it wrapped like [redacted]'s truck but we can make it happen! If you’re sure you want that then I’ll let [redacted] know and get the ball rolling. [redacted] at [redacted] Ford said he could get me one pretty soon. But he has an f250 getting delivered Monday and can have it ready to go by the end of the week. Let me know.”
So what do I do? I’ve wanted a Raptor for 10 years. But I’ve also loved the F250 since I was young and dumb. I could never justify one. Not only because of the cost, but because of how big they are. I live outside a good sized city and parking wouldn’t be great every day. But I already have a 2020 F150, so that could still be used. It’s paid for as well, so it’s not like I’m paying for something I’m not driving.
I don’t haul anything. I don’t really do any off roading either, other than for hunting. So neither of these vehicles check any boxes for me. My bases are completely covered. This is just a luxury perk of working for this guy.
If anyone has experience in both vehicles I would greatly appreciate your input.
