just wanted to ask a question to the knowledgeable people in this group. I want a truck just for fun to have a truck and i love the raptor. but not sure which route to go with. there’s the ranger for 60k or the f150 for 95k (802a) I already ordered a f150 raptor 802a (not tied to getting it) but having second thoughts on which one to get because the 40k difference is a lot i think. the use for it will be just to carry an extension ladder and a mountain bike that is it, nothing else.
I went with the Ranger Raptor because it’s more practical as a daily driver. The cab and bed are spacious enough for my needs, and I can fit my Shepherd and Boxer comfortably in the back seat. It’s easier to park and maneuver on tight trails. The only feature from the bigger Raptor that I wish the Ranger had is cooled seats. Other than that, the Ranger strikes a great balance between the Bronco Raptor and the F-150 Raptor. It can crawl almost as well as the Bronco and perform just as well in Baja as the F-150, all while fitting into spaces where neither of those would.
Yea get a 2nd gen. 2020 for mid 40s
The F-150 Raptor gets my vote. It offers much more flexibility for whatever comes up and serves as a great daily driver with plenty of space to keep everyone comfortable.
I don’t think it’s even a fair comparison. The F-150 Raptor is a beast, while the Ranger Raptor feels more like an angry golden retriever. The true Raptor is purpose-built, whereas the Ranger just has a few added features and a new branding.
Decide based on cabin and bed size. Other than that, both will provide the excitement you’re seeking. I initially had a Ranger Raptor on order but switched to a full-size because the cabin and bed felt too cramped.
Both can handle mountain bikes and ladders, and $40k is certainly a significant investment.
You should consider how the Ranger’s smaller size might be beneficial for you—like navigating Jeep trails, parking in urban areas, fuel efficiency if you drive frequently, and transporting large pets or people regularly.
Also, make sure to drive both or at least sit in each to see how they feel.
Get a 22/23 for high 60s low 70s. Plenty out there.
