I plan to get a base one at MSRP (my 24’ order was unfortunately sold for a markup), most likely a 2025.
My biggest reason for not getting the R is the insane markups they carry. I hear people talking about how “it’s cooling off”, but not really seeing much evidence of that aside from small slashes on markups.
Will prices ever correct for these trucks or will the v8 be extinct well before then?
Yes, supply will eventually match demand—unless Ford opts to make the R an extremely limited production truck. Since they don’t disclose the production numbers for the Raptor, we can never know exactly how many are made each year.
I’ve owned both a Raptor R and a 3rd gen V6 Raptor. Honestly, don’t bother with the R; it’s not worth it even at MSRP, let alone over sticker. Just go for the V6 Raptor; it’s essentially the same truck. The R sounds cooler and has slightly better acceleration, but you’ll sacrifice 6 MPG. The interior, suspension, and other features are the same. Save yourself the money!
I’ve seen a Raptor with over 30K miles sell for MSRP of $115K, which is the closest I’ve come to seeing one without markup. If people continue to pay $135K for them, what’s to stop Ford from raising the MSRP to $130K? It’s hard to predict what will happen next.
Are you planning to get a base model R? I didn’t realize they offered base models; as far as I know, the only ones available are fully loaded with all the options.
