Afford a Ford Raptor at a young age

For those who got theirs at a young age, how did you do it? I’m 20 and I want to be able to make different cool vehicles and things. I work with Blender.

Gen 1’s really aren’t all that expensive anymore. Paid less for mine than my friends have spent buying newer base model cars. FYI, if you can’t afford the truck itself you definitely cannot afford the fuel bill. To answer your question, got mine at 23 working cybersecurity. Paid 31k. 2014 Ruby Red Special Edition 90k miles.

Bought my first one at 27. Sales.

I went. But you don’t need to, I have colleagues that didn’t and make more than me.

Construction is how I bought mine at 21.

Recently got my Gen 2, used, at age 29. Bought it from a friend, paid cash, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever purchased except for my house. I obsessed over Raptors since 2010 and reached a place where I could send it. So I know how you’re feeling bro… Real talk, don’t overreach financially. If the price of the vehicle is stressing you out, gas and eventually tires will also have you tripping. Don’t settle, just save, and wait for the right time and the right deal.

I bought one this year at 28. I’m married with two kids and own my house. I did a family and bought a house before the truck. Prioritize stuff that matters in life first, not a truck. That stuff will come!

I’m 22, majored in CS and work as a software engineer. I can comfortably afford a Gen 1. I wouldn’t stretch my budget for a Gen 2, but I know for a fact that I make more than some Gen 2 owners. Been actively looking for a Gen 1 for a few months and haven’t found the right one. Budget is around 30K. Staying conservative because I also have a New Edge Mustang I don’t intend on selling. Also have decent student loans I gotta pay off. Edit: Also OP, don’t believe what you see. Just because you see a young dude driving a nicer car doesn’t mean they’re doing good. Most of the time, they’re putting on a facade.

Like someone else mentioned, Gen 1’s hover in the 30-45k range depending on mileage and condition. Totally attainable, just be careful what you’re buying. Gen 2’s are also coming down; I’m seeing some in the low 50’s. I was 26 and in the military when I got mine.

Gen 2s are starting to come down. I bought a fully loaded one used for $50k with just over 60k mi at age 26 working aerospace. Worth noting that I don’t have any student loans or debt. Keep in mind that affording the truck is only part of it. Gas and accessories (lights, leafs & springs, bumpers, tonneau covers, etc.) can rack up pretty quickly.
