Whats the pros and cons of Ford Raptor? Or else which other model would you suggest and why?

Hi DXBpetrolheads, I am a newbie in this sub and would like to know more about Ford Raptor. I know very little about the half-ton segment. But always, my heart starts to beat fast whenever i see a Raptor in the roads. Is this the best vehicle in the segment or what. Whats the difference between F-150 and and the Raptor? If you where to buy a half-ton model, which one would you choose?

The 10-speed automatic transmission can be a bit sluggish and jerky. While the 3.5 EcoBoost engine provides decent power, it still falls short for the size of the truck and would really benefit from a V8 like the one in the Raptor R.

Parking it is still a hassle, just like any other full-sized American pickup. :smiling_face_with_tear:

The size is a drawback, but it’s also an advantage for the Raptor. While the mileage isn’t great, no one looking at a Raptor is really concerned about fuel efficiency. The ride is incredibly comfortable. Ignore what others say about the EcoBoost V6 not being sufficient; it’s powerful and fast enough. Plus, there’s a ton of space and utility.

I’ve owned a few F-150s: the 6.2 Raptor, 5.0 Roush, 5.0 FX, and the 3.5 Raptor. For daily driving, the 5.0 FX is hands down the best overall, but when it comes to off-roading—especially tough terrain—the Raptor is in a league of its own.

However, if you’re not going off-road, there’s really no point in choosing it over a 3.5 or 5.0 F-150. I have to say, the seats and butt coolers in the 3.5 Raptors are just perfect, lol.

I just got the 2024 Ranger Raptor last month, and it’s an absolutely amazing vehicle. For context, I moved from a 2013 Jeep Wrangler 2-door manual with a 3.6L V6.

The Ranger Raptor feels like a smaller version of the F-150 Raptor. It comes with most of the features from Ford Performance and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds. The driving comfort is great for a larger American truck, but it really drives more like an SUV. The 12-inch screen from Ford is impressive, and it has actual knobs for the AC and other controls, unlike a Tesla.

The mileage, though, is pretty poor. The Wrangler, despite having a bigger engine, gave me about 450 km with a smaller fuel tank, while the Ranger is less than 350 km with a bigger tank.

In my opinion, it’s the perfect size for a pickup; the F-150 felt too big for me. I’d describe it as a decent-sized truck with the engine of a sports car. I can tell it’s going to be a blast off-road, but I haven’t had the chance to try that out yet.

350 km on an 80-liter fuel tank? :astonished: Are you drag racing your Ranger at every red light?

I had the bi-turbo 3.5 V6 from the F-150 Raptor in a Navigator, and it was consuming less than 12 liters per 100 km. You must have a pretty heavy foot! :man_shrugging:

Same here! I just picked mine up last Friday. I’ll definitely share more about it soon, but I’m sure I’m going to have a lot of fun with it. It’s fast, comfortable, and I definitely plan to take it off-road!

Opt for the V8 engine for the pickup.
