What weight distribution hitch do you use?

I’m looking into getting a weight distribution hitch and wanted to hear your opinions on what’s worked well for you. I’ve never used one before.

What are you planning to tow? That’s the key question here.

I’ll be towing my TJ Jeep on a 16-foot trailer. From what I understand, the max tongue weight for a straight pull is 500 lbs. But for proper weight distribution, the Jeep needs to sit further up on the trailer, which pushes the tongue weight to about 700 lbs.

@Mika
Makes sense. You might want to consider airbags instead. They could handle the weight better.

You should just bag it.

Third gens have coil rear suspension, not leaf springs.

Thanks for pointing that out! I edited my comment.

That truck isn’t ideal for towing a 16-foot trailer with a vehicle on it. You’re going to need either airbags or Deaver springs, but those will negatively affect the rear suspension performance.
