Looking for opinions on whether the Ranger Raptor is worth the price. It seems expensive, but does the performance justify it?
You’re getting all that capability for less than a Gladiator Rubicon or a full-size truck with similar off-road abilities.
At this price, you’re not comparing it to an F-150 with street tires and no off-road upgrades. The Ranger Raptor is designed to handle tough trails right off the lot.
Honestly, this seems like the going rate for mid-sized off-road pickups. From what I’ve seen, the FX4 competes well with the TRD and ZR2.
I can’t say if it’s worth it for you, but I definitely want one!
If you compare it to the Gladiator Rubicon or Colorado AT4, it’s a decent deal. TFL did a breakdown video explaining the price point and how it stacks up against the competition.
It’s pricey. Most people spending that much will probably just go for a full-size pickup instead.
Honestly, I’d just buy an old Ranger, toss in a 5.0 or 4.6, maybe even a 5.2, and build a pre-runner. Most people buying the Raptor will probably just use it the same way folks do with the F-150 or Bronco Raptors. At that point, just get a base Ranger.
Anything with the Raptor name is overpriced marketing from Ford. They’re pricing themselves out of the market. A buddy of mine just bought his first Toyota because of the insane dealer markups at Ford.
I’m getting one. The reviews are glowing, and it’s performed really well in tests and races in Baja and Australia. 405 hp twin-turbo V6 with anti-lag, front and rear lockers, and live variable suspension—that’s hard to beat in this class.
People will say you can get a Jeep or Tacoma for less, but I’m buying it for the fun factor.
I’m a bit biased, but I’ve got one on the way at MSRP. I went back and forth between this and a full-size F-150 with a 5.0, moderately specced. In the end, the Ranger Raptor made more sense for me. It’s more ‘fun,’ better off-road, unique, fits on tight trails, and can still handle family duties.
Is it expensive? Sure, but it’s priced right alongside the competition.
