I’ve been eyeing a Raptor with the carbon package, 802A. Found one with 88,000 miles and no accidents, and it’s a pretty good deal. For those of you with a Gen 2, how’s it holding up with high miles? Anything specific I should check out or be careful about?
Love my 2020 Gen 2! Only at 45k miles, so not super high yet. Haven’t run into any issues so far.
That year, cam phasers and water pump aren’t as much trouble as before, luckily.

Yeah, mostly it’s about rebuilding shocks and keeping the tech up.

Rebuilt shocks can be hit or miss, though.
@Finch
Why’s that?
Seen it a lot… cheap rebuilds don’t last. We got two new shocks on ours from the dealership, and one driver’s side shock has a tiny oil seep. Annoying!

Definitely take it back to the dealer. Had mine replaced under warranty for the same thing!
@Finch
As long as you get them from a good company, you’re good.
I’m at 102k on my 2020, no issues yet! But I’m on my 3rd set of shocks.

How much do shocks usually cost to replace?

Yeah, and are you buying new ones each time?

Wondering the same thing here.
That hood looks weird.

What makes you say that?
Just sold my 2019 with 78k and got a 2022. Around 70-80k, you start getting issues like cams, turbo, transmission slipping, shocks if they weren’t rebuilt, etc. Pricey fixes without warranty, and mine was in the shop a lot. Did my cams at 70k, but when the transmission started slipping at 76k, I knew it was time to move on.
2020 was a good year for the Gen2. If it’s driving well and looks taken care of, go for it. I’m not a big fan of the wrapped hood, but some people like it. And if those fog lights are good quality, they’re a nice touch!
I’d go for it, but maybe plan on replacing the shocks eventually. Rebuilds can be a gamble. Some folks say it’s fine, but you’ll know from the ride quality over time.
My ’20 only has 20k miles, so nothing to report yet, but the ride is great!
