Thinking about buying a 2020 Raptor with 83k miles… good idea or bad move?

Like the title says, I found a 2020 Raptor with 83k miles for around $50k. It’s a certified pre-owned with two previous owners and looks pretty clean. Worth it, or should I keep looking?

I like my Gen 3 way more than my Gen 2.

83k miles on a 2020 feels a bit high to me.

That’s a lot of miles for the price… and let’s be real, a Raptor isn’t some kind of investment. It’s a fun truck, not a retirement plan.

My ‘18 has 112k on it and still runs great.

Would it be smarter to just go straight for a Gen 3? I’m seeing them at $70k-$80k with around 20k miles. Pricey, but if it’s a better move long term, I’d consider it.

If you can afford it and want it, go for it. No one here is gonna tell you how to spend your money.

Also, why do people keep calling trucks an ‘investment’? These things drop in value the second you drive them off the lot.

@Zion
People say that because a tiny number of cars actually go up in value over time.

I love the Raptor, but the prices lately seem crazy.

Yeah, it’s not an investment. It’s a truck. It’s gonna lose value, not gain it.

Is this going to be your daily driver or just a fun truck? Mine’s at 90k miles and still solid, but I wouldn’t rely on it as my only vehicle.

Both! Lol

Then yeah, like others have said, if you can afford a newer one, it might be the better call.

I don’t think these trucks are as unreliable as some people claim, but I’d be cautious about using a high-mileage one as my daily.

For reference, a few months ago I got a 2017 with 32k miles for $54k. Super clean. Just giving you something to compare.

That price seems a bit high.

Mine has 43k miles and I’ve got it listed for $66k.

What year is yours? I saw a guy near me selling a ‘19 with 50k miles for $52k.

It sat on the market for a while before I even reached out.

Prices are just coming back down to normal. People got used to overcharging for used trucks the last couple of years.

Exactly. Some folks are just mad they can’t sell a used truck for $10k over book value anymore.

Nope.

Wouldn’t trust a V6 with 83k miles. Just my opinion.

Just make sure I wasn’t the previous owner, lol.
