Ranger Raptor: Any Regrets?

I am dangerously close to pulling the trigger on a Ranger Raptor. I am looking for something that has great performance but still can drive around town comfortably. I don’t plan on towing much other than dirt bikes or snow mobiles on the weekends. The Ranger Raptor seems like it checks everything.

My one concern is reliability. I want to own whatever truck I get for 10 years or so. I know previous gen rangers have been riddled with transmission issues among other things. I also know that the internet magnifies issues and makes everything seem like it has problems.

My question to any ranger raptor owners or people with knowledge on them is are there any regrets? Issues? Wishes? That you have after owning one? Thanks in advance.

It’s a pretty safe bet that most new cars today aren’t ones you’d want to own for a decade.

I recommend checking out Ranger6G.com—it’s the largest active community for Ranger Raptors. Browse through the forums and come to your own conclusion.

They haven’t been around for long, so it’s still too early to tell about higher mileage issues. We’ve sold quite a few, and I’ve only seen one in the shop for repairs (allegedly related to the phasers).

It’s too early to say for sure, but that 3.0 is a great engine. It’s better than what they put in the ST Explorers, with improved heads and exhaust, if I remember correctly.

I just saw that a bunch of 2.7 and 3.0 ecoboosts are getting engine replacement recalls. Given the history with the 3.5 in the gen 2, I personally would only own one new or with an extended warranty.

Honestly, for that price, you could get a used F-150 Raptor. You can find a 2022 F-150, and it’s way nicer.
