Need advice for friend, Raptor fraud!

Okay so I figured I’d ask you guys this, I’m in Michigan and so is my buddy. He just sold his 2017 raptor about 2-3 weeks ago to some sketch ball who flew from Virginia to Michigan. He sold the truck for 29,500 with 109,000 miles. Picks guy up from airport. Likes the truck, keeps asking if it’ll make it back to Virginia(which of course it did)

So they were laughing the other day their phone was still connected to the truck so they could see where he was at how much gas ect ect. It was on like 20 miles to e for a few days and didn’t move. I looked at the map where it was and was kinda close to a dealership. So we checked the website, no truck on it which is a good thing maybe he just worked there

Now just today we checked that same dealership again and long behold the truck is on their website, listed for sale, with 56,000 miles……for $43,500……

Ford app still works on his phone and even that which said 109k now reads 56k on his app

How?why? What is he supposed to do now? Nothing?

Did this guy look all over for a vehicle that didn’t have up to date mileage in the carfax to make a quick 6-8 grand?

What do you guys think?

Are you thinking about uploading the service records to Carfax to make everything fully transparent?

That’s definitely a wild situation! Unfortunately, without previous mileage records, it’s tempting for fraudsters to roll back the odometer. As for the sales contract, does it show the correct mileage? That could help clarify things and provide some protection.

He didn’t write up a bill of sale  only proof he has is the invoices in the app and if he still has any that he didn’t give him. Idk just a big cluster. He said he’s gonna call the dmv in the morning

Ok…so based on the Carfax report. This pickup got serviced in '21 @55,707 miles and driven zero miles until sold in '24. Supposedly got driven approx 800 miles from Michigan to Virginia @109k. Is being offered with an odometer reading of 56k. The pickup only was driven 293 miles? Unless it resets the hour meter for the engine also there’s that going against them. Also providing proof of registration through your state for the last three years from the last mileage report will make it obvious too. Some insurance companies want mileage reports too. The mileage may not be reported but it IS recorded by anyone that does work on it for their own records… Unless it got trucked to the dealership it’s mathematically impossible. Call Carfax and report them and the Virginia State Police. Rolling back odometers is illegal as as all hell. If you want to have even more fun you could see if you can find a list of cars that they have sold that were used and go through them all with Carfax and find out how many more cars they did this too and start a massive lawsuit with all purchasers of sold cars even if those cars were sold again(multiple owners lied to per car possibly). It will be the end of the dealership. Possibilities of 100 cars sold by them many of which have been sold AT LEAST once more. That’s a lot of pissed off people. Don’t sit on this. Please do something about it.

It seems like he took advantage of both the dealer and anyone the dealer sells it to. I’d suggest reporting it to the dealer at least. My guess is that the guy bypassed the title and sold it to the dealer as if it were your friend’s.

So you didn’t get robbed your just making sure some else doesn’t right?

There’s a lot of service information without any mileage listed, so he probably falsified the report.

The NHTSA could help guide you in the right direction.
