Is this 2020 Ford Raptor a good deal?

I was considering buying a new Trail Boss or AT4 because of the updated infotainment systems, but I found a 2020 Ford Raptor with 34k miles and the 502A package for $64k. What should I look out for, and is this a good price?

Thanks for the advice! Here’s what I’ve been comparing:

  • ZR2 for $72k (supplier pricing)
  • 2023 AT4 for the same price
  • 2023 Tremor 3.5 EcoBoost for $69k
  • Or this used 2020 Raptor.

I keep debating if I should just spend $5k more for a brand-new vehicle, but I remind myself that Raptors hold their value really well. This truck was around $80k when it was new.

@Ash
If you have access to GM employee pricing and extra discounts, the ZR2 is tempting, but I’d still go with the Raptor. In 10 years, it’ll still be a Raptor, while the ZR2 will have gone through several evolutions. The ZR2 is great, but it’s not a Raptor. Just my two cents.

@Storm
Yeah, I think the Raptor is the way to go. I was hesitant because V8s are disappearing, and new vehicles tend to have better interest rates. But the value of the Raptor, especially with the 502A package, justifies it.

@Ash
You won’t regret buying a Raptor. The ZR2 is nice, but if you’re driving one and pull up next to a Raptor, you know which one’s the king of the road or dunes.

You’re right. Raptor it is!

@Storm
Solid choice! I just got a Gen 1 Raptor last week and love it.

That’s not a bad price at all. I’d suggest getting an extended warranty for peace of mind.

I have a 2020 with 34k miles, and I haven’t had any issues. As long as the Carfax is clean, you should be good.

Do you mind sharing what you paid for it? This one is listed at $64,500.

@Ash
I bought mine new back in 2020 with the 801A package. Sticker price was $65k, but I negotiated it down to $57k.

Did you get an extended warranty with it?

It comes with the standard factory warranty when purchased new.

It came with the 3-year/36k-mile powertrain warranty, which just expired. The only issue I’ve had was replacing the backup camera shortly after I got it.

Before kids, I had a Colorado ZR2, but this summer, I ditched my Ram and seriously considered a Silverado ZR2. In the end, I went with a 2020 Raptor—it was my dream truck.

No regrets. The Raptor is so much fun and well-equipped, even without the massive screens newer trucks have. I came from a Ram with the 12-inch screen, and honestly, I think those are overrated.

Compared to the ZR2, the Raptor has bigger tires, a larger fuel tank, and better build quality overall. The ZR2’s Multimatic DSSVs are okay, but they’re not as good as the Fox shocks on the Raptor. Plus, the DSSVs aren’t rebuildable and often have leak issues.

If you go for the Raptor, I recommend getting an extended warranty. I used Ziegler and got an 8-year/100k-mile plan for about $1,950 with a discount code (“Payinfull”). Good luck!

When looking at used Raptors, check the Carfax report. There’s usually a link to the original window sticker, which shows the options and original price (often $80k+).

I’ve spent a lot of time looking at used Raptors. The ones with upgraded tires (bead lock capable) are worth considering. You can also compare prices on sites like Carvana or CarMax to see if you’re getting a good deal.

What you described sounds like a solid deal. If you don’t want it, I’ll take it! Just kidding. Good luck!
