Hit a buck with my truck… not even hunting

Sorry about the damage, but hey, at least you might get some jerky and maybe a cool mount for the wall.

Did you know roadkill is estimated to kill over 360 million animals in the US each year? Factors like traffic speed and the time of year all play a role. And roads can fragment animal habitats, which causes biodiversity to drop over time. It’s a sad but important issue to think about.

Well, that’s proof some predators aren’t needed… trucks can handle it.

That’s a nice buck though.

Take the money, buy back the truck as salvage, and fix it yourself. You could end up with a working truck and some cash in hand.

I doubt they’ll sell it cheap. Trucks like that have good value at auctions.

@Jessie
Could that be why they totaled it? I know it sounds cynical, but maybe they’re trying to make a quick buck themselves?

Not really. They do the math and figure out what costs them less. But either way, they have to compensate you fairly. Sometimes they estimate how much repairs will cost based on past cases.

@Jessie
Yeah, I get that. It’s just frustrating when they base their numbers on a couple of photos. I guess it’s all algorithms and stats at this point, huh?

@Jessie
I’ve seen people buy back wrecked trucks for way less than expected. Depends on the situation.

Is it really that simple? I want to make sure before agreeing to anything.

@Pierce
Yeah, ask them what the buyback price is before you accept their offer. You’ll get a rebuilt title, but it’s straightforward.

That’s a solid buck you got there.

I don’t know much about hunting. Would that be a 6-point?

Looks more like an 8-point. It’s got a wide spread too.

@Aubrey
Yeah, he was a solid 8-point. Probably around 3-4 years old. Could’ve been a monster with a couple more years.

It’s a 3x3 if you don’t count the brow tines, but some people count those differently.

@Phoenix
Brow tines? Around here, we’d definitely call that an 8-point.

It depends where you’re from. In some places, they don’t count brow tines unless they’re over a certain length. Seems like a regional thing.
