Don't sleep on the Raptor in Unbound—here's why it's a beast

The F150 Raptor in Unbound is an absolute sleeper hit. It’s surprisingly competitive, handles well with smooth drifting, and has some insane engine swap options (like the Chiron’s W16 and the Regera’s Hybrid V8). Here’s a breakdown:

  • Handling: The Raptor is stable, with manageable body roll and smooth drifting. It even keeps good speed off-road, even with road suspension and tires, which opens up shortcuts other cars struggle with.
  • Customization: Engine swaps let you build it for almost any class. Mine’s in S-Class with the W16, and while it’s not beating top-tier cars like the Vulcan, it holds its own with solid acceleration and handling.

But there are trade-offs:

  1. Engine swaps can limit flexibility: The Regera engine locks it into S+, while the W16 offers some S-Class flexibility but requires sacrifices (I’m running stock brakes and NOS with only a sport clutch).
  2. Terrible launch: The W16’s launch is awful, even with TCS. I use manual transmission and a specific launch strategy to stay competitive.
  3. Drift-focused driving: To make the most of the Raptor, you’ll need to abuse Burst NOS and drift a lot. Grip driving doesn’t work well, and you’ll need to micro-drift in shallow turns to build NOS.

If you can manage these quirks, the Raptor is insanely fun, and it’s great for flexing on faster cars. Grind those 50 takedowns and give it a try—you won’t regret it.

Got mine in B-Class. Slow start, but it corners like a dream.

My buddy and I both slapped the Regera engine in ours. Tuning it to drop into 329 S-Class is hilarious—it’s like driving a tank.

Love the Juggernaut livery. Nice homage!

This is exactly what I use Hank Voight.

Have you tried the BMW X5 M? I dominate A+ races with it, especially off-road. The launch isn’t bad either. It only struggles on freeway tracks and long straightaways.

How did you grind out the takedowns? I found one AFK car and got a few, but it’s rare.

Most of mine came from ramming AFK players during circuit events. The rest were accidental.

Team up with a friend—it’s way easier.

Never mind. Found and abused an extremely AFK player for a while. Problem solved.

My buddy uses his for A+ races, and it’s a beast. AWD helps, and it powers through almost anything.

Had someone in a Raptor last night, and at first, I thought, “Why is this guy using a truck?” But he kept up with my R34 like a champ.

PC mouse and keyboard player here. I grinded for the Raptor but feel disappointed. Planned to use it for fun and as a cop killer.

I tried the Regera engine, but it shifts too fast into top gear and leaves me frustrated. Then I spent $400k on the Chiron engine, but the shifting still sucks:

  • 6-speed struggles with 1-2-3.
  • 7/8-speed struggles with 1-2-3-4.

When it doesn’t shift, it hits the rev limiter repeatedly before finally accelerating. Anyone know how to fix this on mouse and keyboard? I can share videos and my tuning setup. Please help!
