I’m a regular off-roader, mainly on sand dunes, and I need to disable the ABS system while off-roading. I also want to disable the airbags for dune jumps. I’ve checked the user manual and the fuse diagram but didn’t find anything useful. Does anyone know how to turn off ABS or stop the car from braking while sliding in the dunes?
You probably don’t need to disable ABS. That helps you stop when your wheels lock up. What you actually want is to turn off the traction control system. Instead of just tapping the button, hold it down to fully disable traction control. Baja mode reduces the nagging, but it still keeps some traction control on.

What’s probably happening is the stability control applying the brakes, especially to one side in situations like that. Check THIS LINK from the owner’s manual. It explains how to disable stability control.
Why do you want to turn off ABS and airbags for off-roading?

Mainly to avoid airbags deploying during jumps. ABS, I’m not sure why in sand, but I’ve had side airbags go off while off-roading in my Lexus just from getting too tippy. There’s even a button to disable side airbags for off-roading, but I forgot to press it once, lol.
@Mica
Interesting. How do you bypass it?
