2019 Performance Blue - loves batteries

Pull the fuse for the running boards for a while and see what happens. Diagnose step by step. F-150’s are super touchy about batteries ever since they started implementing onboard battery management. Also, are you buying lead acid, or AGM?

@Noel
My comment disappeared - appreciate the advice. The batteries have all been oem fomoco AGM batteries. Replaced at dealerships.

Well at the very least if you went Optima Yellow Top, and it got fully discharged you can almost always bring it back with a proper AGM charger. Speaking of which make sure you’re using an AGM charger on AGM mode. I like the NOCO 20 charger.

Weird! I have a 2019 802a Raptor with 60k miles still on the original battery.

Same with me. 2018 with 51k still on original battery.

I have a 19 with 100k on the original battery.

19 22k mile. Sits most of, if not all, the winter. Original battery.

Nice my truck is the same color. After my 1-year-old battery died I ended up shutting off the battery management system using forscan and that fixed my problems. Basically, the software disengages the alternator to save .001 MPG and keeps a bare minimum charge on the battery.

@Case
Interesting. Thx for sharing that!

I have the exact same truck, same color and everything. Good looking.

I know it isn’t a solution but have you thought of installing a low voltage cut off? It’ll cut power once it senses the battery is low. We do it on our work trucks since they have strobes and stuff. Just a thought in case you decide to add lights and stuff.

@Cameron
Didn’t even realize that’s a thing so I’ll definitely look into it! Thx!

UPDATE: the dealer texted me and said it was at 90% when they stopped working on it around 2 and 6 hours later it’s now at 45. So something is definitely draining it and they’re going to check out the running boards tomorrow.

You have to leave the amp probe connected on peak setting overnight to catch something intermittent happening.

I swear, this is still the best color.

It’s been my favorite too. I like how they released a special color each year.

I’d highly suspect its how the AMP boards are wired. My oem battery went 80k, I’m about 75k into the replacement walmart battery. AGM.

Agreed. I think this dealer and tech are willing to look until they find the culprit. Fingers crossed.
